If you’re anything like me you’ve been reflecting on 2019 and nestling into your goals for 2020. I’ve been using my Dreambook to dive deep into what matters most to me in all aspects of my life, so that as I move forward my actions are inspired toward the bigger vision. It’s been an amazing experience. The goals I’ve set this year feel really connected, and spacious, and incredibly ambitious.
I can’t wait!
For some, setting goals and making plans is fun, exciting, and even nourishing. For others, it’s more stressful. It feels like a lot of pressure, or just really uncomfortable. We see this a lot in our Facebook community. People start the new year with big dreams, but when it comes time to turn those dreams into an actionable plan, they get scared and second guess themselves. The right next step becomes fuzzy, and some people stop moving forward.
But it doesn’t have to happen that way!
Here are three reasons we fail to achieve our goals, and what you can do to prevent these common setbacks from slowing you down.
1) We put a huge amount of pressure on this one random day to be the end-all-be-all of fresh starts. But the truth is, we have a great opportunity every day to make a fresh start. So if you fail January 15th, who’s to say you can’t start fresh January 16th? You don’t have to wait until the next New Year comes around.
If you commit to any one thing this year, maybe it should be to let each day be a fresh start.
2) We do it half-ass. I don’t mean to be rude, but let’s be honest, sometimes we set goals or resolutions and then act as if it’s an annoyance to even consider giving it our attention.
Give it 100%. Because the life you desire deserves your 100%, after all, this is your life! Whether the goal is to have more connection with your family, to marry your soul mate, to make a million dollars, to feed hungry children, or to invent the best earplugs this world has ever seen – commit to your best. Every. Day.
3) We often don’t have a system in place to help us achieve these goals. If we set a goal or resolution, but we don’t create the structure to ensure it’s fulfillment, then we have set ourselves up to fail.
Get clear about your intentions. If you really want it, get it. Find a proven system, and work the steps. Your results depend on whether or not you continually take action and have a positive mindset for optimal success. You have to have both, and having a structure that supports both is ideal. It’s why we created the Dreambook and and why I’m so passionate about sharing the next step to a vibrant, centered and peaceful life: Dreaming+Planning:Create Your Well Life (currently 50% off through January 7th)
I’m not saying it’s the only system that will get you there, but it’s one I know definitely works.
So, to celebrate you, and all the amazing things you’re going to do in 2020, we're offering 50% off enrollment in Dreaming and Planning, and all of our online courses*, through January 7th!
If you've been thinking about taking the next steps and creating a life that feels balanced, successful, and meaningful, there will never be a better time than now!

Seven years ago, Briana and I started working on a book for people who are ready to transform their lives. It’s called Rituals for Transformation. It features 108 lessons to be done over 108 days, and it takes the reader on a journey of healing and awakening. Of all our courses and books, it’s the thing I’m most proud of. I can go through the book myself, year after year, and get something new out of it each time.
Today I’d like to share lesson number 83: Every hardship is an opportunity to let go. The following is excerpted from the book.
What parts of life are hard for you? Take a look at your hardship today, and ask yourself these questions. First, what’s wrong with hard? We understand that you may prefer easy, but is it possible to see hard as just hard, and not wrong? Like a workout should be. Like a day of farm work. Hard, but manageable.
Second, what is my role in the perception of this situation as hard? While there are certain circumstances that nearly anyone would perceive as objectively hard – like carrying boulders – others are only subjectively hard because of your personal viewpoint. Hardship is a state of mind that can be difficult to relinquish. Perhaps you were taught that hard work is noble, or that it’s the only way to achieve anything, or that easy equals lazy. Such notions could lead you to believe you get extra credit for leading a hard life.
Third, could I let go of my feelings about this situation? Hold a hard situation in mind and feel what comes up in your body. Feel willingly. Invite the feeling. Welcome it. Breathe into it. And let it go.
Fourth, what’s possible when I let go? What’s beneath that hardship? When you view your hardship as an opportunity to let go, a tremendous array of additional opportunities arise. Thus, every hardship becomes an opportunity…
… to wake up
… to forgive
… to practice changing perspective
… to find new ways to play
… to put what you’ve been learning to the test
… to practice flexibility
… to reunite with a fragmented part of yourself
… to level up
… to reaffirm your values
… to practice going with the flow
… to discover your needs
… to use your gifts
… to connect to Spirit
… to grow
… to own your power
… to access intuition
… to live your purpose
… to ask for help
… to open your heart
… to relinquish control
… to be supported
… to choose lightness
… to experience trust
… to love yourself
… and to become who you really are.
Holding this hardship in mind, scan that list, and see if one of these many opportunities jumps out at you. Make a choice to change your story. Now, what’s one thing you can do right now to move yourself in the direction of this choice?
Be well,
Peter

[post_content] => Ahh, it’s that time of year again! Thanksgiving under our belts and Christmas are right around the bend, joyous time spent with family, and (hopefully) snow is in the air and presents and love abound!
One thing that we don’t always look forward to this time of year is the traveling. Yes it can be very stressful, because everyone and their Mother is getting on a plane. Airports are crowded and sanity can be scarce.
But this year, consider yourself lucky. This year (and the previous past 3 years) Portland International Airport has been voted the
best airport in the country by Travel Leisure Magazine. Huffington Post
rated PDX number three for “Best Airport Security Checkpoints”.
Having these things in mind should prepare for an easy breezy holiday season. Being prepared and having an open mind always eases unwanted experiences; consume as much knowledge as possible. I always recommend checking out the www.tsa.gov website, just to make sure you are up to date on prohibited items. Make sure to feel relaxed and enjoy this time of the year either by visiting a spa or just pampering yourself at home.
Once you breeze through security, make sure to stop by Dragontree PDX Airport Spa to continue your stress free travel experience, or especially if things aren't going as smoothly or planned as you would like them to be. We have plenty of relaxing treatments, supplements, and a knowledgeable staff to help ease any of your worries and woes.
Cheers!
Megan
FOH/Retail Manager at Dragontree Spa, Portland International Airport.

I am going to go outside right now and lay in the sun with my book, reading and relaxing! The phone and iPad stay inside!
yes!!! that sounds perfect.
I am going for a mindful walk outside and then 10 minutes of yoga.
~ Mia
wonderful!
Saying “no” to too much work. Taking time for meditation.
yes!
I start every morning and finish every evening with doing my Tai Chi and yoga stretches. Also every 2 weeks or so I will go to my local book store on a Saturday and sit in the Starbucks section enjoying my coffee, quiche and book for at least 2-3 hours. These are my self care rituals which I thought you’d like to know about.
So glad to hear you are taking care of yourself!
